Ports in Myanmar

A total length of Myanmar coast is 2228 km (1,260 nautical miles), along the Rakhine coast is 713 km, along the delta area is 437 km and the coast of Tanintharyi is 1078 km long. Of the nine ports along the coast, Yangon port is a major international port, handling more than 90 % of the country’s normal exports and imports. In terms of number of wharfs, there are 28 berths in Yangon Inner Harbour with the total quay length of 4,640 m. In Thilawa Outer Harbour, there has been 20 berths with total quay length of 3,801 m.

Yangon Ports

Yangon port has two harbour areas: Yangon Inner Harbour and Thilawa Outer Harbour. In terms of total 48 berths, there are 28 berths in Yangon Inner Harbour with the total quay length of 4,640 m. In Thilawa Outer Harbour, there has been 20 berths with total quay length of 3,801 m.

In the Yangon Inner Harbour, out of 28 berths, 16 for multipurpose berths, 7 for general cargo, 4 for edible oil and 1 for Offshore supply.
As a river port, the acceptable vessel size is vessels with Draft 9.6 m, LOA 200 m and  35,000 DWT.
Last three years ago, Yangon could accept vessels with LOA 167 m, and draft 9 m.
In the Thilawa Outer Harbour, out of 20 berths, 7 for multipurpose berths, 2 for general cargo, 9 for oil and gas, and 2 for edible oil & crop.
The acceptable vessel size is vessels with Draft 10.5 m, LOA 300 m and  50,000 DWT.
Last three years ago, Thilawa could accept vessels with LOA 200 m, and draft 9.5 m.
